Prevention for Longevity

How can we live longer?
We all want to live longer and healthier- or rather, we all want the secret as to how to achieve this. Well, there is in fact no secret: the key to longevity is prevention, and it starts with improving your health and lifestyle.
It’s often thought that chronic illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease are just bad luck, or poor genes. But in fact, prevention is the best treatment for these diseases if we take steps to put our health first and foremost.
Furthermore, events worldwide such as the pandemic and natural disasters serve as timely reminders as to just how fragile life is, and so it’s important to prioritise our health, so we can live longer, be happier and enjoy each day.
So, what can we do to live longer?
1. Eat well
We can’t stress enough the importance of exercise and a healthy diet when we consider prevention for longevity. And we all love food, so let’s start with eating our way to a longer life.
Eating well involves having a healthy balanced diet that incorporates plenty of wholesome foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats and calcium. This ensures our bodies are adequately supplied with all the essential antioxidants, minerals and nutrients it needs to prevent illness and disease and ultimately live longer. Like we said, prevention is the best treatment and it can easily start with good food.
2. Get outside and stretch those legs!
Again, the importance of exercise and a healthy diet is crucial if we wish to live longer. Those who live in the so-called “Blue Zones” (regions of the world where a higher than usual number of people live much longer than average.) exercise every day - and we don’t mean hard-core weight and cardio sessions.
It’s more of a natural, incidental exercise such as gardening, housework or walking to the shop. This natural exercise keeps our bodies moving, and this is in addition to other forms of exercise 3 or 4 times a week that gets our heart rate up, will improve not only our mood, but reduce muscle loss, maintain a healthy weight, and decrease stress.
3. Take steps to lower your stress
The direct, long-term effects of stress on your body can be unhealthy and even the short-term effects of stress can trigger harmful behaviours. Stress has been linked to a variety of health conditions such as heart disease, obesity, diabetes and many more. Stress can also hinder our cognitive ability and also our bodies chance at absorbing all the nutrients we need and thus even taking longevity supplements may be fruitless if your body is under stress.
Take time to address your lifestyle so there is a happy balance of work, family, friends, exercise, me time, fresh air and hobbies. Prevention is the best treatment, and who wants to lead a stressful life anyway?
4. Be social
Positive social relationships and friendship play a vital role in promoting metabolic, emotional and mental health. Research has found that social isolation and loneliness increases the risk of premature mortality as well as amplifying any existing conditions as there is a lack of close support.

5. Take health supplements
Whilst there are a range of health longevity supplements available on the market that proclaim to increase your longevity, finding one that is worth your dime can be hard.
One particular supplement that we recommend definitely taking is CBD Recover,
which contains curcumin. Curcumin has scientifically proven health benefits such as anti-inflammatory properties, plus supporting digestion and immunity, blood circulation, liver function, and heart function.
6. Get more sleep
A must do all that we can to maintain optimum health and resilience, and live longer, is to have good sleep habits. Sleep regenerates the brain, improves the efficiency of our immune system and our learning capability, reduces stress, improves our mood, and also gives our brain a chance to consolidate memories and make informed, realistic decisions about our lives.
Just remember, it’s never too late to start adopting a healthier way of life. Simple reminders like the importance of exercise and diet, taking longevity supplements containing curcumin and having good sleep hygiene can drastically improve your quality of life and help you to live longer.
